If you found this article, chances are you are looking for the famous kfc cole slaw recipe. More on that in a bit. First, I'd like to share with you my saga of finding it.

I am not a huge cole slaw fan, but my grandfather. Wow. Is that another story!

I think he could practically live on KFC's cole slaw, he claims it to be the "best ever". So naturally we wanted to impress him (me and my wife love to cook) so we set out on a mission to recreate the KFC magic in our own home.

After surfing the internet looking for the secret recipe, I was confused. I had found several different recipes, and had no idea which one was correct! They all claimed to be delicious but somehow I knew my grandfather would have a more discriminating taste.

So we picked the two that looked the best, and made both of them. I tasted them both, but like I said, I am not a big fan and really didn't know how they compared to KFC, though they did taste quite differently against each other.

When my grandfather took his first bite, we held our breath, waiting for him to say "wow, you got KFC cole slaw" and then for us to respond with "No! We cooked it ourselves!" but instead he put his fork down and just said "this coleslaw is terrible".

Oops!

About a week after that embarrassing incident, I was telling a coworker about what happened and he told me about a resource I had never heard of before. Apparently there was a "secret" club of sorts that traded secret restaurant recipes back and forth. I checked it out and sure enough, there was the famed KFC cole slaw recipe.

So we fired up the kitchen and called grandpa over, and guess what...he loved it! He said it tasted just like the original. The best part of the story is that we found an endless supply of the best recipes, and can now cook like the pros from home. How cool is that?

Today, I debut the fourth of my six new Battle Passes. Boy did it take ages to makes these. It was definitely worth it, however. Anyway, this is the Abigail Pass. She doesn't have one specific strategy because the Pokémon on this Battle Pass are all pretty independent. Are all the Pokémon in my new Battle Passes independent? Absolutely not. My new Doubles team definitely relies on the help of other Pokémon in the team. You'll see that in my next video later today. My opponent was pretty easy to predict for the most part. Now that's one mighty fast Lucario, I'll tell you what. Any Pokémon that can outrun my Scyther is probably EV trained in Speed. The turning point in this battle was probably when Lucario used Swords Dance. Had Lucario used Cross-Chop instead of Swords Dance, this battle would have probably been over because Swords Dance is what gave Stantler the chance to use Hypnosis (I know it had Cross-Chop because I saw the Friend Pass.) I used: Chatot, Stantler, and Scyther. My opponent used: Raichu, Lucario, and Hypno.

Some folks like to joke that the best tool for any job is a bigger hammer. A woodworker's joinery mallet, with its massive square head, fits that description, but there's more to it than that.

A well-designed mallet is light enough to control comfortably but heavy enough to deliver useful power without requiring a wild, roundhouse swing. A mallet also offers a broader striking surface than a hammer, and one that is tailored to the nature of the work. While a carver's slender mallet allows pinpoint control and a much lighter touch, the joinery mallets broad, flat striking surface is ideal for other tasks that require more force and less flexibility.

A square-headed mallet excels at driving chisels to chop joinery, especially when cutting across the grain for dovetails or mortises. It's also great for project assembly and other tasks that require a firm rap or two. Another great thing is that a mallet is easy to make.

Start with a blank of splinter-resistant hardwood such as hard maple. A block about 3 in. sq. by 41⁄2 in. to 5 in. long will make a mallet head that is massive and heavy enough to deliver a blow with great force when needed. You can glue up such a block if you don't have 12/4 stock available, but be aware that the glue joint might fail eventually.

A through-mortise in the mallet head provides an attachment point for the handle. To make it, find and mark the center in the top of the blank. Then, using a drill press or a hand-held drill with a spade bit bore a 3⁄4-in. diameter hole through the blank, top to bottom. Use a rat-tail (round tapering) rasp to elongate the hole on the top of the mallet head by 1⁄16 in. to 1⁄8 in. toward the end grain in each direction. The wider opening should taper down about halfway through the mortise. If you don't have a rasp or file, a 1⁄2-in. dowel and some course sandpaper will do a decent job.

Next, mark the striking surfaces of the mallet for cutting at a slight angle from top to bottom. An angled surface will strike the butt of a tool handle more squarely because the mallet itself typically will be angled slightly upward when the blow lands. Cutting the ends is simplest on the bandsaw. Plane or sand away the sawmarks. It's also a good idea to bevel the edges and corners of the block to prevent splintering.

The handle also should be of a sturdy, straight-grained hardwood such as maple, birch, hickory, or oak. Start with a 12-in. length that is 3⁄4 in. thick by 11⁄4 in. wide.

Begin by marking the layout for the tenon that will connect the handle to the head. At one end, mark a centerline to bisect the width of the piece. Use this line to lay out a 3/4-in. square. Next, mark out a shoulder line 31/2 in. from the end of the piece and then cut away the waste on the bandsaw to create the square tenon. The extra 1⁄2 in. of tenon length will allow the tenon to protrude from the mallet head so it can be trimmed flush after glue-up.

Making a square tenon round is relatively easy if you follow the steps shown in the photos on p. 34. (Of course, if you have a lathe, you can turn the entire handle. Once you have a true cylinder, use a scraper, sandpaper, or a smooth file to finish shaping the tenon, testing and fitting until it goes into the mortise. The handle should fit snugly, but you shouldn't have to strike it to drive the tenon all the way into the mortise.

Next, use a bandsaw or a handsaw to cut a sawkerf about 21⁄2 in. deep down through the center of the tenon and perpendicular to the 11⁄4-in. dimension. This kerf will hold the wedge that secures the handle to the mallet head. You want the wedge parallel to the striking surfaces. If it were parallel to the long grain, it could split the mallet head. Before assembling the mallet, shape the handle for a comfortable grip.

To keep a solid connection between mallet and handle, I drive a glued wedge into the kerf in the top of the handle. This expands the handle against the walls of the mortise and tightens the fit. Make the wedge 2 in. to 3 in. long, no thicker than 1⁄4 in. to 3⁄8 in.

To assemble the mallet, put a little glue on the inside of the mortise and push the handle into place, making sure it's oriented correctly to the striking surfaces. Next, apply some glue to the wedge and hammer it into the sawkerf. When the glue dries, saw off the wedge and the excess length of handle, then chisel or plane the top smooth.

Wipe on a little Watco or linseed oil for an optional finish. Avoid wax-too much will make the grip slippery.

675g neck of lamb

Method:

At thisPhase, add the raspberry vinegar and black pepper to the pan and cook until the vinegar has almost completely disappeared. Now add half the blueberries, honey, white wine and orange juice and orange zest. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for five minutes. Now add water and bring to a boil.

Transfer the sauce pan with a lid and add the lamb steaks on it. Put in a moderate oven and cook for 40 minutes. Set the meat on a hotInstead, bet again the sauce in the pan and bring to a boil original. Reduce to thicken and then add the remaining blueberries and cook until the skins are separated in the process. Spoon the sauce over the lamb steaks and serve immediately.

The Dewalt 718 is one of the superb range of miter saws that the company manufactures. I have used the dewalt 718 and its forerunners for about 20 years and find it ideal for all sorts of cutting jobs in my workshop. The first one I bought in 1989 was used daily for 10 years in a busy commercial setting making around 50 - 100 cuts per day. It was stolen from my workshop which meant that work had to stop while we got a replacement. One week later the new one arrived with a number of improvements over the old one.

Constant Product Improvements On Dewalt Miter Saws

The improvements included the fantastic guarding system that covers the blade. As you make a cut the guard reveals just enough of the blade to make the cut without exposing the operator to the saw blade. Another development was the addition of quick clamps to hold your work in place while you make the cut.

We do not always use these clamps but they are very solid. Just can clamp and unclamp your work in about 5 seconds using the ratchet system inherent in the 2 clamps. As many of the profiles we cut are non square we use jigs with the clamps to hold the work securely.

Eventually my second Dewalt 718 stopped working. We had run it into the ground over 11 years and the motor bearings were beginning to wear out. Dewalt did offer to change the motor but I decided to buy a brand new one.

We have now had the latest version of the DW718 for about 6 months. Again there is the guarding system which has been further improved. The clamp system is the same. The best new feature is the laser cutting guide. It shines directly onto your work and the beam is the exact width of the blade. So you can see both sides of the cut.

This is critical when you are working to very tight tolerances. If A piece of Aluminium has to be 1789mm then the laser beam allows me to hit that measurement exactly.

The other main improvement is the start up speed of the blade. It quickly gets to full speed when you press the on switch. About half the time of the previous model. There is also a brake on the blade which means that it stops turning very quickly. You no longer feel you are waiting for the blade to stop. It just starts and stops very fast.

Most of my work is with aluminium and wood. These need completely different Dewalt saw blades. You cannot use a wood saw blade on aluminium without causing damage to the blade. You will also find the work catches in the blade which is quite dangerous. An aluminium saw blade will cut wood but the teeth will go blunt much quicker. This is particularly true for cutting laminates and chipboard.
